In tegenstelling tot de uitgebreide kennis over de rol van voeding en leefstijl op de ontwikkeling van darmkanker, is er weinig bekend over de invloed daarvan op de overleving en het terugkeren van de ziekte. Om dit te kunnen bestuderen zijn er grote onderzoeken nodig. De resultaten van dit onderzoek kunnen gebruikt worden om patiënten met darmkanker een beter advies te geven over leefstijlfactoren waar ze zelf invloed op hebben.

Esperion trial |
CLEAR Outcomes is a Phase 3, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study that will evaluate whether administration of bempedoic acid 180 mg/day versus placebo reduces the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with, or at high risk for, cardiovascular disease who are statin intolerant. This evaluation will have a composite primary efficacy endpoint that includes time to first occurrence of cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), nonfatal stroke, hospitalization for unstable angina, or coronary revascularization. The study will be completed with 1,437 primary 5-component MACE and at least 719 3-component MACE, with treatment for at least 2 years. About 12,604 patients will be randomized 1:1 to receive either bempedoic acid or placebo.
